Jaime Loves Stuff : Interview with Rebecca Ann Collins and Giveaway!

Interview with Rebecca Ann Collins and Giveaway!

Jane Austen and Pride and Prejudice fans get ready for a GREAT chat with the author of the acclaimed author of "The Pemberley Chronicles", Rebecca Ann Collins. I am so excited and blessed to have her here today and I have a special surprise at the end!

My Interview with Rebecca Ann Collins:

When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

Since childhood. Together with reading and music, it was my favourite pastime and I had my first story published in the Childrens Page of a Sunday newspaper when I was nine. I have not stopped writing since.

How often do you write?

Quite often- but it isn’t always fiction. I work on articles and deal with some academic subjects as well.

Are you working on any books right now?

Not an entirely new one; but I am busy working with Sourcebooks on the reprint of next volume of the Pemberley Series, Postscript from Pemberley, due out before Christmas.

Do any members of your family read your books?

Some of them do, but that doesn’t really count, because they usually get them as gifts from me! However, I am happy to report that many more friends and complete strangers do purchase and read them and write to tell me how much they enjoyed them, too!

What is your favourite film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice?

No contest: The BBC’s TV/Video production of 1996, script by Andrew Davies, production by Sue Birtwhistle with a star studded cast including Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. It kept closest to Jane Austen’s original novel—no gimmicks, perfect cast and locations, superb music, costumes etc.

I must say, however, that I felt the last episode spent too much time on Lydia’s home coming and Mrs Bennet’s ramblings, and left out altogether the material in the final chapters of the book, in which Jane Austen shows us Elizabeth and Darcy, after their engagement, when she begins to tease and question him . It provides the reader with some insight into the way their relationship is developing. I found these chapters provided useful clues for the sequels.

If you could be any one dessert- what would it be?

A- What an extraordinary question! I don’t know that I can answer it; I don’t like the idea of being eaten! But if I must make a choice, it will be Creme Caramel –smooth, sophisticated and not too sweet.

An enormous thank you to Rebecca Ann Collins and also a huge thank you to Danielle at Sourcebooks for making this happen and also, for providing a fantastic giveaway opportunity.

Right here and right now, I am going to be giving away two books from "The Pemberley Chronicles: Book 1 and My Cousin Caroline: Book 6". These two books actually have some pretty direct parallels, and will work as a great introduction for a lucky winner!
