Random Wednesday Finds

Wowza! Happy Hump Day everybody!

I am already ready for Friday. Come on... pleeeeeeeeeeease come on Friday! I just want to go get my produce coop on Saturday, prep the produce and meals for the next week, scrub my apartment and be lazy for Saturday Night Seduction on ID and then sleep in late on Sunday. I don't ask for much. Really, I don't.

Here's another edition of cool stuff I find that I like and that I feel I need to share on Wednesdays. I have no clue WHY I picked Wednesdays but there's something wonderfully random about that middle of the week. Maybe it's just me. I am kinda not right sometimes.

By the way!, if you find some interesting items - give me a shout at revengeofthebooknerds at yahoo dot com. If you find something and send it my way, be sure to send me a link to where you found it (have to give credit where credit is due!) and I will also link your name to the item. Maybe this could be a cool link up in the future. What do you think? Ok, so here's some amazing stuff I like:
via the Aubrey Elizabeth Apothecary Shop on Etsy
I found the above via a cute apothecary shop on Etsy called Aubrey Elizabeth Apothecary.  I have never purchased from this shop nor have I ever chatted with the owner (so just an FYI this isn't any form of sponsored post or anything...) but first, I love the design of the label and the image is great! I have been dying to try a lip scrub! Plus... this is lime.  It just sounds delicious!

Dessert wines.  Do I really need to say more? By the way, this is a bit of a heads up kinda share for this one.  I am going to be posting a review about the above wines and lemme tell ya... oh happy day! You really CAN have your cake AND drink it, too! Delicia wines in Red Velvet and Peaches and Cream.  To. Die. For. Trust me.

Image via Etsy Shop "This Girl Gabbie"

So.  I am a huge Austen and Heyer fan.   Well, and... Bronte and Dickens and... you get the point.  I need a new case for my iPhone and I have been EYEBALLING the above one for awhile.  I will probably get it soon!  Is it adorbs or what? Def for an Austenite! Again, not affiliated or sponsored by this Etsy shop but I found this AMAZING case at This Girl Gabbie's Etsy Shop.  She has some seriously fab cases in her shop.  Check it out.

Soooo... did any of you find anything awesome this week? Share!

Monday Music on a Tuesday!

This past weekend was insanely busy for me and I totally forgot to get a music post ready!

By the way, I want to throw this out here that if you like music, books, movies, etc. go visit my friend Ryan at Wordsmithonia.  I love how rounded his tastes are and he's always bringing up a memory or whatnot with his posts.  Seriously check out this music post.  You will thank me for it.

So anyways, on to my day late Monday Music.  Manic Monday.  Whatev... either ways all on a Tuesday :)

I am on a HUGE soundtrack kick now.  I was pet sitting for my sister and for some reason, soundtrack music was playing in my head.

My dad was a boxing couch.  My brothers boxed.  I was surrounded by boxing.  So you shouldn't be surprised that "Eye of the Tiger" is the tops :) I love the Rocky movies! Underdog stories where the protagonist not only climbs to the top but falls and rises again is my kinda story!  Of course, I do love the scene in Supernatural.... (Google it)

And here's Survivor, ladies and gents:

Who doesn't remember the Crane from The Karate Kid?  I love the Karate Kid and I love Young Hearts by Commuter.

I loved the series China Beach (this isn't just movies, y'all) but it was Diana Ross and the Supremes' Reflections that gave me chills

And just enjoy the Game of Thrones opening music.  Haunting.

Share some music you love!

#Influenster Pond's Luminous Finish BB Cream Review + #Giveaway

 Definitely be your beautiful best.

I love BB Creams.  I have posted previously about my hoarding obsession with BB Creams and also about my certain holy grail of foundations.  I live in Phoenix. We are dry and our heat is extreme in the summer.  I don't know about you but heavy make up in the summer is not only miserable but really, it doesn't make sense because it's going to melt off and waste away.  BB Creams have become quite the rage and for a good reason.  These are beyond tinted moisturizers.  BB Creams have added benefits to them.  I won't rehash them because #1 I am not a makeup artist, a dermatologist nor am I a beauty guru but I do recommend reading up on them! The Asian BB Creams are the creme de la creme of BBs and for a good reason.  However, many Western makeup makers have come forth with their lines of BB cream from high end to drug store!  Some are hits and some are.... painful misses (Yeah, you know who you are!).

In comes Pond's Luminous Finish BB+ Cream.

From the package:

  • Instant Luminous coverage
  • Visible Dark Spot Reduction
  • Tone Perfecting Complex
  • Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Coverage
From their website:
  • Non-Greasy, Matte finish
  • Non-comedogenic
  • Dermatologist Tested
  • Hypoallergenic
In my opinion, GREAT attributes in a beauty product!

They come in a 1.5 FL. OZ. Tube.  I think that's a generous size and for only $10.99 on Amazon, a great price point!

As for range of colors, very minimal and comes in Light and Medium.
I am extremely fair.  Fair as in glow-in-the-dark.  I put the Medium on my hand and you can see it's not a nice shade of color and enough of a contrast against my skin.  I hope it's helpful in seeing the color for somebody who is needing a medium shade.
Flash Off.  Sorry, I had a hard time getting a good angle to show the contrast.

My opinion:  This is definitely a luminous finish! It was a very beautiful, lightweight coverage and I didn't feel like I was wearing a heavy foundation.  It falls in between (on how it feels in regards to heaviness on your skin) Missha's Perfect Cover (semi heavy) and Tarte's BB Creame (very, very light weight).  I actually like this BB Cream.  It lasted long enough (not all day), not a full coverage (between a light to medium coverage) and my skin didn't feel irritated.  I, again, liked this BB cream.  I can see wearing it again!

Now for the fun part!

GIVEAWAY!!!

I have a giveaway available for ONE lucky gal (or guy!) in the USA for a bottle of Pond's Luminous Finish BB+ Cream! Yay! You will get a choice between the medium or the light shades! Yay! (I know, I know but... YAY!).

Giveaway will end on August 20th.
a Rafflecopter giveaway Disclaimer: I am an Influenster and these items were provided to me from Pond's via Influenster for free.  I am able to maintain my ability to remain honest in my reviews.  I was given extra product to share with friends, thus the availability of having product to giveaway

Sunday Social

Sunday Social is a weekly meme brought to you by Ashley Lately

This is actually my first time participating so I figured it sounds fun, so why not? I am a social girl so this is right up my alley. Oh and it's all about fooooooooooooooooooood.

1. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Acks! How dare you force me to choose ONE thing! I'd say Chicken Makhani (aka Indian Butter Chicken) with naan and raita (Ok, so maybe that's more than one but it's ONE meal!)

2. What's your guilty pleasure/comfort food?
Oh man... Girl Scout Thin Mints.  I did find that Great Value's Fudge Mint cookies are nearly identical!

3. What's the weirdest/craziest thing you've ever eaten?
Calf Fries.  Rocky Mountain Oysters.  Bull Balls.  They're not bad!

4. What foods do you avoid at all costs?
Fish, Shellfish, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries.... all because I am deadly allergic to them!

5. What meal reminds you of your childhood?
Ooh! Chicken Fried Steak, Meatloaf, Chicken noodle soup, etc.  So many!

6. Share one of your favorite recipes and the story behind it.
This is a hard one for me.  I am drawing a blank on it! Wow! Terrible!
How about my favorite meatloaf recipe? No real story behind it but I love it because it's good. 'Nuf said.
1.25 lbs of ground turkey
1 sleeve of Ritz Crackers (crushed!)
1 egg
1/4 cup of water
1 packet of Lipton onion soup mix
1/4 cup fresh parsley
a large handful of shredded italian cheese.

Mix the crap up.  Mold it into a loaf.  Bake in your PREHEATED oven (350 degrees) for 45 minutes.

It's good.  Eat it.  You'll love it.

Mad Men and Etsy Obsessions

I am absolutely, positively, and insanely obsessed with Mad Men.  The fashion? Amazing.  The boozing at work? Awesome.  The societal changes? Priceless.

I will also admit, I have the biggest girl-crush on Christina Hendricks.  She's so va-va-voom.  As was said in the series, Marilyn is really a Joan.  Her quick wit, personality, style and 'tude? She's everything I wish I was.  Her sexuality is so very effortless.  I want to have red hair.  Big boobs and serious curves, too.  Le Sigh.

Some of my favorite Joanie Looks:

I seriously want this outfit.

Speaking of the above outfit.  I love Coral.  I know, I know, I know... it's trendy.  Mint and Coral.  Coral and Navy.  But.  But. But... I can't help it! It's gorgeous! I love it!  I would swim in various shades of mint and coral if I could.

Need!
I really, really, really want that pillow.  It's so pretty and vintagey.  I found it on Etsy at this shop called CarolineMint and seriously, I want EVERYTHING in her shop! Haha.  Don't laugh, I am serious.  I need it all!

Oh and another super fabulous Etsy find?
This:

I found this at EarthCadets.  I see this and I giggle uncontrollably.  Why, you ask? Three three letter words: Bon. Qui. Qui. Seccccuuuritay.  I will cut you.  Oh yes, I did, girl! Anjelah Johnson is HILARIOUS!

Oh and by the way, do you follow me on BlogLovin? If not, please do and leave me your link and I will follow you back!

Random Wednesday Finds

I love fashion.

I mean, I really, really love it.  I am on Pinterest posting all of my dream outfits.  Oh and let's not forget the makeup.  Oh and the hair.  However, let's be real- I'm pretty conservative/plain Jane these days.  It has more to do with my confidence but that is something I am working on big time.  I'm back to wearing contacts again! Whoot! Go Me! Now time to lose those last 30 freaking pounds.  All in good time...

So, back to fashion.  I am not a girl of high fashion, I love it pretty and feminine yet comfy.

I found a beautiful lace-elbow sleeve top from New York and Company (I ordered, naturally!)
So, I bought this top in winter white.  I can imagine pairing it with a pair of dark wash skinny jeans for a girls night out or with a pair of dressy pants for the office.  LOVE!

Of course I have another find I love... A super cute fit and flair dress in navy.  Also from New York and Co.  I can't wait for it to arrive.  I'm thinkin... NUDE wedges! What do you think?

I did go crazy on the sale.  I will share my finds.  I didn't spend much but do have 6 new outfits! Whoo hoo!

What is your style?

Music Monday or... Manic Monday?

Whatever you wish to call your Monday but on Mondays I have to get myself pumped with music.  I have a very hectic life (no complaints because this is the way that I function in my life.  If I am not running around like a mad woman, I am not alive!) and Mondays are days that truly need extra motivation and a bit of positive affirmations.  I like to start out my day with feel-good music!  It's music that makes me move, smile and starts out my day just right!

This is what I am feeling this Monday:

Madonna's Holiday.  Hands down, one of my favorite CDs (Yep, I still rock a CD collection and I am not ashamed!) in my collection is Madonna's Immaculate Collection.  I just love her.  I sing this song loud and proud in the car.  Oh and this video has her brother, Christopher in it.

Feel good isn't meant to be ... good music. However, how do you define GOOD music?  For me, it has a beat that makes me move and smile.  That's the point.  We can argue all day over whether or not Nicki Minaj is a GOOD musician (I like her...) but I like SUPER BASS! I sing this like a fool!

I don't care what anybody says, Gangnam Style makes ya move.  It also brings to my mind happy moments during a sad trip (going back to Kansas following my father's passing).  My nephew is freaking HILARIOUS when he does the Gangnam Style.  Also, my daughter can get down (in a previous post a video is posted) to this.  It does make you move...

Heeeeyyyy sexy ladddddyyyyyy

And I can't not post up some Bobby Brown!

Oh and don't even front, you know you practiced this dance in your room before the big school dance.  Shhhhheeeeeeeeeiiiiiiittttttttttttttttt... I did.  Y'all don't even know... I had BAD skills. Bad. Literally.  Not even good.  Not close.   I am the rhythmless nation.

Last but not least....

Happy Monday! Make it GREAT!

Holy Grail of Foundations- Make Up For Ever HD

Ladies!!!

I have found my holy grail of foundations.

Seriously.

I am not lying.

Years of searching and wasting money and I have finally found the perfect foundation that makes me look flawless and natural.  That make up is "Make Up For Ever HD".  It's pricey but worth every penny.  I hope to get somebody to do a before and after and I can do a full review.  I am seriously stoked.  It's crazy.

PS I am getting back into the swing of my schedule and will start getting my blog posts more organized, on task and back to regular posting and I have a VERY exciting giveaway planned.  You will love it.

Photoshop Elements

So... I am learning a little more each day on using Photoshop Elements.  I have Elements 9 and I have downloaded a few actions.  I am having so much fun.  I am learning more and more and I can't wait to truly master it!

Here's this shot and it's SOOC (Straight out of my camera)
Her first experience with Kansas wind. LOL.  Her face is dirty and the prairie is a bit... blah.

I cleaned up her face and added a bit of POP to the background color.  It's much prettier!

I am pleased!

Also, I wanted to share these:
We stopped by Dorothy's House in Liberal Kansas.  Walked the Yellow Brick Road! LOL

A picture of my grandmother when she was about 16 years old.  I love this photo of her.

Jamba Juice Review

Juicing has become quite popular due to the health benefits. My sister is a huge juicing fan and juices daily. It's a great way to squeeze in some fruits and veggies. I love Jamba Juice. I always have. I have always liked to stop in and get a smoothie. I haven't been in a while but when I was given the chance to pop in and try their new fruit and veggies smoothies, how could I say no? Jamba has a few newbies on the menu! They have their new Tropical Harvest™ Smoothie and for kids, they have Jamba Kids™ Berry Beet It!™.

Emma tried the Berry Beet It! She loved it! All she could say was yummy! The Berry Beet it has Strawberries, mangos, bananas, mixed berry juice, carrots, beets, broccoli, spinach, kale, and lettuce. If I wasn't allergic to berries, I'd have wanted to steal hers! LOL . I had the Tropical Harvest which has Mangos, peaches, yellow vegetable juice (sweet potato, carrot, butternut squash), passion mango juice, and ice. All I had to say was... O. M. G. It was so good. The flavor explosion was perfect. I think I have a new addiction. I am not even kidding! It was really, really good.  I also feel better knowing that I got a nice dose of veggies for myself and for my child!

Good job, Jamba!

disclaimer:  I was given a gift card from Jamba Juice via Moms Meet blogger opportunity.  Although this was free product, my opinion is mine and mine alone.

Excited!

I just wanted to give a quick follow up. This week will be hectic after being off for a week for my dad's funeral and returning back to work PLUS I start my assisting teaching (that's the easiest way to describe it but it's called Online Supplemental Instruction, I'll share more details later). However, I am super stoked because ... Emma's 90% potty trained! Oh happy day!
