It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday, what are you reading is a weekly book linkup hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

So last week's post... wait.  No.  Not last week, TWO weeks ago because I didn't link up last week (thankyouverymuchholidays).  Anyways, my LAST linked up post told you that I was really, really, really enjoying Perdition.  I did finish it last week and holy-crap-throwing-monkeys-Batman! It was amazing.  I can't handle it.  Ha ha.  I have a new obsession forming and it's all about Dred and Jael.  Ann Aguirre, the author, is always responsive to fans on Twitter so... I did tweet her (I did send her a tweet about the Jax series.  I am sure I saved the screen shot on it because I get fan girl status easily) about The Dred Chronicles.

Honestly.  I wasn't lying.  I really can't wait.  What will I do for the next NINE MONTHS????  Sigh...

I did find a solution, I ordered The Misfortune Cookie by Laura Resnick.  It's the latest installment in the Esther Diamond books (which I absolutely adore.).  So, I will start that soon since it should arrive on Thursday.  Here's the synopsis from Penguin:
Esther Diamond's year gets off to a rocky start when NYPD's Detective Connor Lopez, who slept with her and then didn't call, shuts down her current place of employment and gets her arrested. Once she's out of handcuffs, and with no paying work on the frigid horizon, Esther takes a small role in a grad student's film project in Chinatown—where her friend semi-retired hit man Lucky Battistuzzi, who escaped Lopez's sweep at the Little Italy restaurant where Esther works between acting jobs, is hiding out in a Chinese-Italian mortuary.Esther and Lucky soon realize that something strange is going on in Chinatown, where beautifully handcrafted fortune cookies are inflicting deadly mystical curses on the hapless victims who receive them as gifts—and before long, Esther learns that Detective Lopez is one of the recipients. As preparations for Chinese New Year heat up in the ice-covered neighborhood, when the streets will be filled with costumed lion dancers, firecrackers, and dense crowds, Esther and Lucky summon the help of their friend Max, a semi-immortal mage and semi-solvent bookseller, to help them save Chinatown and Lopez (with whom Esther is not on speaking terms) from a mystical murderer of maniacal menace.

Oh and my super, super sweet coworker bought me a copy of "Hunting Eve" by Iris Johansen.  So excited! I started it BUT I will have to stop.  I haven't read an Eve Duncan book in a long time so I am a bit lost on a lot of the developments and I find that Hunting Eve is definitely NOT a stand alone book.  So, I am "forced" (ha!) to buy the few novels preceding "Hunting Eve" and then return to it! I can't wait to dive into this series.

So....what are you reading?

LOL!!! Me, too! You know you're a true book fan when you get fangirl status over an author! Love it!
