Do you remember the first time you read Little House in the Big Woods? Or the first time you watched  "Little House on the Prairie"?

Laura Ingalls Wilder's tales of her extremely fascinating life as a true pioneer girl has fascinated children for generations.  I know many of us adults still enjoy reading about her life and still being completely enthralled by her story.

Her childhood was full of love, misfortunes, hardships and living life.  Ma and Pa Ingalls absolutely adored their children and it is evidenced by how Laura spoke of them.

I received a copy of the documentary, Little House on the Prairie: The Legacy of Laura Ingalls Wilder, to review and it's now on repeat!, Laura's journey from prairie pioneer girl to farm wife to mother to writer is narrated by Dean Butler (who played Almanzo Wilder, her friend, then beau then husband in the show).  She survived financial hardships, illness, Almanzo surviving a stroke and loss of her son (who she didn't get to name).  Her daughter, Rose, took her mother under her wing and she brought us Laura Ingalls Wilder, the author.

Let this sink in for a moment... she originally started writing  a memoir (Pioneer Girl) but her agent stated that children's books would be more appealing and they were... during the GREAT DEPRESSION.  Her books have continuously stayed in print and in multiple languages.  There's just something about her journey that leaves us breathless.

I still rewatch the series as often as possible.  It's as heartwarming today as it was when I was younger.  I think because I grew up in the Plains states that I feel some sort of connection with the Ingalls family but I know I am not alone.  I even have the The Little House Cookbook

It's actually on my bucket list to visit Rocky Ridge Farm (her home with Almanzo) and to De Smet, SD (her childhood home).  There are so many celebrations and events in honor of all she has accomplished.

Here's what I am crazy excited about... the OFFICIAL Little House on the Prairie website is live.  It's
glorious.

There is an educational section, a general store, quotes, and so much more.  Be sure to visit the site.  It's AMAZING.
